Shapefile with Economic indicators for Connecticut census tracts		

The shapefile contains the following variables:

1.  FID          -       The unique ID for each record in the table

2.  Shape        -       Geographic shape (Polygon)

3.  CTIDFP00     -       The GIS-compatible Geographic Identifier

4.  Geography    -       Census Tract Number with each county.

5.  Unemp_rate   -       Unemployment Rate 

6.  Sum_NUMBER   -       Number of jobs for 2005 interpolated from census tracts unto censustracts (Source: County Business Pattern) 

7.  Sum_NUMBER_1 -       Number of jobs for 2008 interpolated from census tracts unto censustracts (Source: County Business Pattern) 

8.  Job_Change   -       Change in the number of jobs(employees) from 2005 to 2008 within 5 miles of each censustract
                         (Formula: Sum_NUMBER_1 - Sum_NUMBER )

9. Z_UNEMP_R    -       z-score based on UNEMPRATE (Formula: (Unemp_rate - Mean)/Standard Deviation)

10. Z_JOBCHNGE   -       z-score based on ECON_CHANG (Formula: (ECON_CHANG - Mean)/Standard Deviation)

11. PUB_ASST     -       Ratio of Households With public assistance income

12. AVG_CTIME    -       Average time to commute for the residents of censustracts (Source: Census 2000)

13. Z_PUB_ASST   -       Z-score based on PUB_ASST (Formula: (PUB_ASST - Mean)/Standard Deviation)

14. Z_COMMUTE    -       Z_score based on AVG_CTIME  (Formula: (AVG_CTIME- Mean)/Standard Deviation)


15. Z_ECON_Opp   -       Z-score for opportunity based on Economic and Mobility Indicators
                        (Formula: Z_UNEMP_R + Z_JOBCHNGE + Z_PUB_ASST_ + Z_COMMUTE)/4)


* - The Z-score is adjusted to ensure positive values of Z-score correspond to positive outcomes of the indicator
